19Thirty-One Men

It has always been said that there is strength to be found in numbers. In this case, the number is relatively small but the impact is life changing.  19Thirty-One Men was founded by a group of individuals passionate about the value of Catholic education and committed to making it available to young men from very income challenged families. Since St. Mary’s High School opened in 1931, it has been committed to providing young men, who would otherwise not have the same resources for success, the opportunity to grow academically, spiritually, professionally and personally and transforming them for life.

The concept is simple - a circle of thirty people committed to giving $31 per month for four years. The outcome - four years of a St. Mary's education for one young man who then becomes the "center" of the circle and the thirty-first man. The money generated by the group will cover all the costs associated with high school education including tuition, books, uniforms and all other fees.

The young men who will benefit from the generosity of these circles will be chosen from an ACCESS Academies sponsored school in the Archdiocese of St. Louis (Nativity Miguel schools). There are three Nativity Miguel schools (Central Catholic Academy, Holy Trinity Academy and St. Cecilia Academy), plus three independent Nativity Miguel schools (De La Salle Middle School, Loyola Academy and Marian Middle School) that are designed to provide families struggling in impoverished neighborhoods with a high quality education.  St. Mary's High School is the ideal fit for many of these students due to its south city location, diversity, small class size and nurturing environment.

As a member of 19Thirty-One Men, the rewards are endless. Provide a quality education to a deserving student, build new friendships with fellow members and have a direct impact on the future of a St. Mary’s Dragon.  To participate in this interest group and/or be a captain of your class to recruit the first circle of 30 financiers please contact Joe Divis, Director of Advancement at 314-481-8400 ext. 112 or at  divisj@stmaryshs.com  A Kick Off Luncheon will be held to introduce all of the supporters to their 31st member/student and offer everyone an opportunity to begin this incredible journey together in a very special way.
