Band & Music

The Music Program at St. Mary's has been under the direction of Mr. Michael L. McNiff since 1979. Mr. McNiff began his teaching career at St. Mary's as the Assistant Band Director and General Music Teacher.

Band
Band members have many opportunities to play for school events and for the community. The Concert/Marching Band, which includes the Jazz Band Members, perform at community functions, civic parades, band evaluations and give two public performances a year. The Marching Band is the only Catholic High School Marching Band in the St. Louis Metropolitan area that performs at various community and city functions. This includes the Columbus Day Parade, Veterans Day Parade, Affton Days Parade, the Hibernians St. Patrick’s Day Parade and local parish parades. The Jazz Band performs at the Jazz Band Evaluation Day, Open House, the Christmas and Spring Concerts as well as other school events.

St. Mary's also offers theater for students interested in music, but are not in band and an introductory course in Music Technology

Music technology fundamentals are also addressed such as electronic communications, digital audio, MIDI, sequencing, notation, recording, mixing, editing and computer-assisted instruction.

Here are some of our favorite student compositions of the 2010-2011 school year.
