Campus Ministry
The Office of Campus Ministry works to develop a deeper faith and a greater sense of community among the faculty, staff, students and parents at St. Mary’s High School. Campus Ministry works to facilitate growth in faith through experiences of prayer, retreat, service and reflection. Through this office, St. Mary’s sponsors many activities designed to deepen sense of self, understanding of the Marianist tradition and recognition of God’s presence in the world.
Marianist Heritage
St. Mary’s is unique in the Archdiocesan High School system because of its Marianist heritage. Having been formed in the Marianist tradition and currently having lay Marianist communities of faculty, the charisms and attitudes of Mary, the mother of Christ, fill the hallways.
This affiliation allows students to opportunity to attend Marianist LIFE Camp and other conferences with Marianist schools across the country. Students are involved in the Marianist LIFE Community (MLC), which is a student led faith sharing group. The MLC sponsors Marianist Monday every week, where students and faculty gather for faith sharing, prayer and hospitality to build community and grow closer to God. All Marianist Monday discussions are student planned and led.
Each year in January, St. Mary’s celebrates Marianist Heritage Week. During this week the student body celebrates the Feast of founder, Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, with an all school liturgy. During this mass, students who live out the Marianist charisms are recognized with the Father O’Shaughnessy Student Marianist Award. Also during this week, freshmen participate in a one day retreat designed to teach them about the Marianist charisms and St. Mary’s Marianist history.
