Cross Country

Cross Country is a sport that allows every athlete the opportunity to compete in an athletic event, regardless of his natural ability. The athlete has the opportunity to participate and compete with others of similar ability and is able to gauge success on an individual basis. No one is unworthy, no one is cut and no one is riding the bench. All members of St. Mary’s are invited to join the team. The only requirement of athletes is that they attend every practice with the desire to work hard and improve.

Every athlete has a unique God-given ability. St. Mary’s asks every athlete to work hard to maximize that potential.  Foremost, it is St. Mary’s mission that all athletes grow through every day experiences in the sport. Dedication, commitment, sacrifice and teamwork are all important life skills that the school wants athletes to take with them past their high school years.

The first official practice usually takes place in early August in the back parking lot at St. Mary’s High School. All athletes must have their physical and parental release form at this time. For more information on times and dates of practices, please contact Coach Dirnbeck at
