Personal Information:
Mr. Dowd earned his B.A. in Mathematics in 1970 from St Louis University and has been a teacher in the Archdiocese of St. Louis since. Jim joined St. Mary's faculty in 1980. Prior to St. Mary's he taught at Holy Rosary Grade School, St. Pius V Grade School, Laboure High School and Rosary High School. He teaches Mathematics and along with Mr. Kenn Buechter is Dean of Students. He has been a Dean of Students/Disciplinary Coordinator since the 1984-1985 school year. In 2005, he earned his M.A. in Educational Administration from St. Louis University. He is part of the Care Team and a member of one of the Lay Marianist groups at St. Mary’s. He and his wife Jane have been happily married since 1972 and they have four children and two glorious grandchildren.

The sense of community was very strong from the moment I started at St. Mary's. I had been in 4 schools in the first 10 years of teaching, but when I got to St. Mary's I knew I was home.
