ADMISSIONS

Rooted in the Marianist spirit, St. Mary’s South Side Catholic High School forms all young men as leaders in a brotherhood of unity, empathy, dignity, and respect to uplift our neighborhood, community, and world. 

Our academic structure is organized on a Rotating Block Schedule (A/B days). The school day consists of four 75-minute classes followed by a one-hour Academic Lab. Students meet in Academic Labs to hear announcements and then have an opportunity to meet one on one with teachers, work on homework, or attend student meetings. (Academic lab is also a time to build community & school spirit through Academy Activities as well as exploring individual interests on Club Academy Fridays.) The school day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. On Wednesdays, students begin classes at 10:00 a.m. while teachers engage in weekly professional development from 8:30-9:45am.

The schedule may be adjusted for students to attend all-school Masses, assemblies, and other special events during the school day.

• Allows students to take Math, English, Science, and History all year for enhanced ACT scores
• Allows students an extra day to do homework
• Provides students variety to their week

We believe there is a direct connection between a student’s appearance, his attitude, and his accomplishments in school. Therefore, students are required to dress appropriately for the full school day and at any function where the student represents the school. Administration reserves the right to determine whether or not a student’s appearance is appropriate.

• Pressed white long sleeve dress shirt tucked in at the waist
• St. Mary’s uniform tie
• All other requirements above, with the exception of outwear
• Mass attire is to be worn for the entire school day

*If a student forgot something, he may visit any Dean BEFORE school starts.

At SMSSC, students can choose from 8 sports and over 20 clubs to join. Clubs meet during our Academy Club Fridays to help our students still be able to play sports, participate in theater productions, or work after school.
